Philosophy, Who Needs It?

Thoughts

Many years ago, I was a country veterinarian in the South-West of England, UK. I had a lot to learn, but three years later, dissatified with the life-style of rush, rush, rush, and dealing with capricious owners, I took up a research career. Forty happy and rewarding years later, I left science, I thought for good, right in the middle of a lecture, entitled, 'Paradigm Shifts In Biology.' I decided that it was time for my paradigm shift. I started a blog, in response to a health challenge, and a business (yet to make a profit), Old Dogs in Training, LLC. It has been a blast, and I'm still learning.

As I write my blog, odd ideas come into my head, so I write about them, such as negative socks, but they don't really fit the theme of my blog, which is directed towards inspiration and motivation for people to stay in good physical health in order to weather the challenges of aging, and challenges they are.

So! I decided to put my thoughts here, as much for myself as anyone. But not any old thoughts. Thoughts about issues of relevance in my life, and the life of the planet. Thoughts about issues for which I have some experience, and expertise.

That's it!

Remember to question the obvious!

Kevin aka FitOldDog

I try to think for myself, and question the obvious, but I know that my thoughts are molded by the minds of other great thinkers, including our Yellow Lab, Willbe - a wise dog!

When I consider an issue, I try to follow the advice of another abdominal aortic aneurysm case, Albert Einstein - and sage advice it is!

“Your only choice is whether you define your philosophy by a conscious, rational, disciplined process of thought and scrupulously logical deliberation — or let your subconscious accumulate a junk heap of unwarranted conclusions, false generalizations, undefined contradictions, undigested slogans, unidentified wishes, doubts and fears, thrown together by chance, but integrated by your subconscious into a kind of mongrel philosophy and fused into a single, solid weight: self-doubt.” Philosophy, Who Needs It? Ayn Rand.
